Municipalities Experimenting with Digital Innovation, Upskilling and the Metaverse

The project aims to educate on the use and potential of new digital technologies, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and the metaverse. It will support the development of digital skills within the public sector, contributing to its ongoing digital transition while promoting innovation and accessibility to public services. The municipalities involved are encouraged to reflect on how to leverage these new digital technologies to further enhance their services, explore new solutions to social issues, and improve citizen engagement in decision-making processes.

Focusing on technologies expected to play a key role in the coming years, the project includes training activities designed to equip public officials with the tools to understand an ever-evolving digital landscape and to improve the level of digitisation within their working environments.

The project’s goal is not only to lay the foundation for innovative public services delivered partially or entirely through digital tools and immersive technologies but also to experiment with new ways of involving citizens in decision-making. This approach allows citizens to interact directly with local authorities through digital spaces, offering opportunities to provide feedback, ask questions, and engage with both elected and non-elected officials.

Promoting Fundamental Rights and Inclusive Education in European Schools through Gamification

In today’s digital generation, gamification has become a popular strategy for encouraging specific behaviors and enhancing motivation and engagement to acquire knowledge and skills. While commonly used in corporate marketing strategies, it is now being implemented in many educational programmes, including the professional development of teachers across various subjects. VALUEBOX aims to equip teaching staff with the tools to build inclusive, high-quality education and foster the European dimension of teaching in secondary schools, which is essential for creating and maintaining a cohesive European society:

  • R1 – Competence Framework for Teachers (COFT)
  • R2 – Gamified Self-Assessment and Recommendation Tool for Teachers (SERT)
  • R3 – Gamified Open Online Course for Teachers (OOC)

The main objectives of VALUEBOX include promoting social inclusion and improving access for individuals with fewer opportunities, including those with a migrant background; monitoring teaching skills related to social, civic, intercultural, and shared values; and enhancing teachers’ competencies to raise awareness and understanding of the European Union context, particularly regarding the EU’s common values, and the principles of unity and diversity.

EnCLOD

Enhancing governance Capacities of Local authorities using Open Data

Data is the cornerstone of territorial governance in the digital age, yet public authorities often lack the necessary skills to fully harness this valuable resource. At the same time, the extensive experience of civil society and the private sector in the technological field remains underutilised in addressing urban challenges.

The EnCLOD project was created to bridge this gap by fostering collaboration between local authorities, civil society, and the private sector across five countries (Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic).

The goal is to improve local governance by training public officials on topics such as Open Data, the Internet of Things, and Digital Twins. Additionally, the project partnership is committed to developing technological action plans and actively involving communities through participatory initiatives, such as “hackathons.”

The EnCLOD project is funded by the European Union’s Interreg Central Europe programme.
